Flume (right: Henry Streten) and Chet Faker (left: Nicholas Murphy) are both independently well known as Australian electronic musicians. Flume began producing his own music in his early teens and in 2011 released his EP followed by his debut self titled solo album in 2012 under the record label, Future Classic. Chet Faker has one album entitled “Thinking in Textures” (2012) and releasing his second, “Built on Glass” (April 2014). Each have won numerous awards including ‘Best Male Artist’ ARIA Music Awards of 2013 (Flume) and ‘Best Independent Release’ at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards of 2012 (Faker). Chet Faker chose his stage name as an homage to jazz musician Chat Baker, who he drew a lot of inspiration from. Other inspiration came from Bob Dylan and his parents old Motown and and Ibiza albums. Flume will be appearing at Coachella 2014 and has a side project with fellow DJ Emoh Instead forming the duo, What So Not . The two have frequented tracks together including “Left Alone” and “Drop The Game”
Update: both artists continue touring all over the world. Chet Faker just stopped by the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach for the final performance of his U.S. tour. I was lucky enough to take this shot from back stage..
